How to Overcome Insomnia Naturally
Stress and anxiety can cause insomnia and other sleeping disorders during time of peace, let alone during crisis like now. This pandemic is something that we had never experienced before. So, it is difficult to predict when and how this outbreak would end. This uncertainty can render us susceptible to anxiety and thus sleeping disorders like insomnia. Nevertheless, overcoming insomnia is crucial for optimizing your immune system. Here is one way to solve insomnia based on my own experience.
Symptoms Caused by Sleep Deprivation
When you are unable to 7 hours of sleep a night, you will experience issues like:
- impaired cognition
- intensified anxiety
- suppressed immune system
- higher of stroke
- higher of diabetes
- emergence or worsening of depression
- higher risk of cancer
- risk of heart disease
- increase in body weight
Boosting our immune system is particularly important during the virus outbreak like now. So, securing a good night’s sleep and rest is likely paramount. But trying to get some sleep during a state of emergency is easier said than done, and it can go in circles.
6 Tips on How to Fall Asleep Naturally
I have been chronically sleep deprived for nearly 15 years due to environmental chemicals and ultra low frequency vibrations. As a result, I have been experiencing both physical and mental breakdowns. It also rendered me homeless six years ago. Ever since, I have been searching for ways to overcome insomnia naturally.
It took me so long to figure but by chance. By practicing the following, taking melatonin in particular, I am finally starting to get some sleep, and am pleasantly surprised that supplements can actually work. So these may work for you, too.
- Take 30 to 45 minutes to decompress
- Cool the bedroom
- Dim the light and reduce visual stimulation
- avoid heavy meal, especially carbohydrates before going to bed
- go to bed at the same time
- take melatonin
How Melatonin Made Me Sleepy Naturally
I had tried 1-5 before, but was not seeing any improvement. Every night, I would get nervous of not being able to get sleep again like the night before. This only made my heart beat faster, making me more anxious, repeating the vicious circle. The chemical smell and artificial low frequency vibrations in the environment only made things worse.
However, I started to notice tangible difference when I began taking a supplement for prompting sleep, containing melatonin.
Melatonin is a natural hormone produced by your pineal gland, which prepares your body to fall asleep. But as we age into our 40s, 50s and beyond, the level of melatonin starts to drop. So taking melatonin supplements can be helpful in getting quality sleep.
I used to be up almost all night every night; I would doze off here and there, but was not able to get 6 or 7 hours of sleep in a row. Because of this, I felt fatigued and not rested at all in the morning . I was not able to think or focus or function.
But 8 days after I had started taking this supplement, I am pleasantly surprised to find myself becoming sleepy around 11pm. I have been able to sleep 6 to 7 hours a night since 3 nights ago, despite the low frequency vibrations in the neighborhood!
I also recognize how energized and focused I am when I get sufficient sleep. Naturally, I feel stronger, less prone to any infection.
